I prefer always being the one to put together the costumes and to be a supporting role not the main character in the theme. Zach was also able to wear things he already owned for his Jasper costume. Funny side story but when I was at Goodwill on the hunt for clothing pieces for our costumes I saw this orange dress shirt that would be PERFECT for Jasper. AND it was from Express which are actually his favorite brand of dress shirts.

Our new neighbourhood has a number of families from overseas or with blended backgrounds who were keen for Halloween. One of the neighbourhood committee decided to organise a local trick-or-treat. Houses accepting knockers were invited to decorate their letterboxes as a signal. I like the concept of having an opt-in / opt-out, especially with dogs. Our boys are very friendly and social, but can be grizzly about door knocking. The last minute Halloween forecast was great, so we decided to close the gates and hand out treats curbside instead!

I like the added versatility of being able to use them for general wear. Our spotted furfamily fun with DIY “The Hundred and One Dalmatians” costumes. We shared some snaps of these homemade themed costumes and decorations in our Instagram stories last Halloween.

I made this in a few hours using a long sleeve shirt, tights, felt, glue and tulle tied to a ribbon for the tutu. Only took a few hours and got so many compliments on it. This is a super costume for a mom-to-be with an older brother or sister willing to dress up in a 101 Dalmation costume.

At the second hand store I found a small piece a flux fur for the purse, a small tote bag and some Dalmatian animals. The face on my pumpkin was cut from black Cricut vinyl , and I adjusted the design file to cut paw prints in the middle of the eyes to go with our theme. No carving, painting, or other effort required and the little cooking pumpkin was still perfectly edible. After Halloween, the vinyl was removed and the pumpkin was still a-ok for roasting and eating.

I sewed cardboard in the collar to make it more dramatic, and closed it with a rhinestone pin I had. For the hair I used a white pair of pantyhose, and cut the legs off, I tacked a white feather boa on one side and black on the other. Pretty sure you can guess where the idea came from.
