I prefer always being the one to put together the costumes and to be a supporting role not the main character in the theme. Zach was also able to wear things he already owned for his Jasper costume. Funny side story but when I was at Goodwill on the hunt for clothing pieces for our costumes I saw this orange dress shirt that would be PERFECT for Jasper. AND it was from Express which are actually his favorite brand of dress shirts.
Nostalgic Fashion: Outfits Inspired by Disney’s 101 Dalmatians
I loved the costume so much I made it again when she was like 6yrs old, because the school was doing a Disney theme. Then, I safety pinned the red fur around the material. In addition, I safety pinned the white fur around the black skirt and the sleeves of the shirt. I guess you could sew the fur if you prefer sewing. I glued the small piece of flux fur to a tote bag and put a small stuffed Dalmatian dog in it. I had cheap sunglasses, a black velvet skirt, black long sleeve velvet shirt and black and white high heel shoes.
Sadly, all that I have are the few mobile phone snaps from neighbours and selfies shared earlier in the post. The additional photos of Humphrey were posed for this post, but alas sweet senior Oli is no longer with us for a full furfamily re-enactment. The Obedient Dalmatian Costume
Unlike my usual rolled or narrow hemmed edges for dog bandanas, I used a wider overlocking trim as an accent. We knew chid Estella was handled but we struggled a bit with deciding who Britt and I should dress like for our Cruella family costumes. Britt really loves to be a bit edgy in her Halloween costumes (just look back through the years at her looks!) and wanted to dress up like Estella from the Cruella film. Since it was just me and the dogs at home for Halloween, I went with a classic Cruella theme for our costumes and decorations. There are plenty of other potential options depending on your group members and personal preferences.
The first kids were already roaming as I rushed into costume, so I completely missed out on picture time other than a few mobile phone snaps sent from our neighbours. Go doggone crazy and play the role of other dotty and spotty animals. Dalmatians have a striking resemblance to spotty black and cows, like Holsteins and Fresians .
They’re not polka dots, since they’re very irregular, meaning they give off the perfect ‘Dalmatian’ vibe. I couldn’t do a 101 Dalmatians fashion guide without some spots. And creating a look based on these two was — surprise — pretty easy. When looking for DIY costume inspiration from movies, 101 Dalmatians costumes are an iconic choice.
