They were a gift from hubby when I first started this blog. Books are a collectable treat for a Dalmatian lover if you ever come across a copy for yourself or someone special. Our boys also have a copy of the Disney DVD that I bought for Oli when he was two. It was first birthday we celebrated as a blended furfamily many years ago. I loved the costume so much I made it again when she was like 6yrs old, because the school was doing a Disney theme. Then, I safety pinned the red fur around the material. In addition, I safety pinned the white fur around the black skirt and the sleeves of the shirt. I guess you could sew the fur if you prefer sewing. I glued the small piece of flux fur to a tote bag and put a small stuffed Dalmatian dog in it. I had cheap sunglasses, a black velvet skirt, black long sleeve velvet shirt and black and white high heel shoes.

Many years ago, we shared some fabulous creative ideas for DIY Dalmatian Halloween costumes. My original plan was to make one of the girls Cruella, which we did and even got our real puppy Jersey in on the action. She might not be a dalmatian but she is black and white. Then I realized we have never done a DIY costume that involves mom….and maybe I was a little jealous of all the fun dressing up the past few days….
Make a dalmatian costume with your child for Halloween or play time. Just because we love the dots doesn’t mean that Dalmatians can’t have just as much fun in absolutely any type of dog-friendly costume or dog and human costume pairing. Then I bought 2 yards of Dalmatian fur material, I waited for 50% off coupons for both of the fabric purchases. You can’t do a Cruella theme and NOT have a Cruella De Vil Costume represented right? I also agreed with their point that it made the most sense for me to be Cruella. Tess is my mini-me and for the characters we’d be playing she was supposed to be the little girl version. And Britt is also my mini me and she’s supposed to be the SAME person that I am just in a different outfit so that made sense too. I like the added versatility of being able to use them for general wear. Our spotted furfamily fun with DIY “The Hundred and One Dalmatians” costumes. We shared some snaps of these homemade themed costumes and decorations in our Instagram stories last Halloween.
By special request for this year’s upcoming celebrations , here are all the DIY details. Perhaps sneak yourself a few treats, too. They’re optional, but Humphrey recommended. Our “The Hundred and One” Dalmatians DIY costumes were super simple, with customised bandanas for our Dalmatians and a classic Cruella costume for me. Here are some more fabulously fun Dalmatian costume and themed dress-up ideas.
The iron-on design is typography based, making it a very easy DIY design for crafting with Cricut or similar machines. The paw print is one of my own graphics, but paws are readily available as either freebies from your machine clip art or online. I went with plain red fabric for our bandanas. It’s a great colour on the boys, and a perfect fit with my other black, white, and red Cruella costume and decoration elements. It’s also a great base for show casing the “Property of Cruella de Vil” iron ons. I started with a white shirt that had black spots on it.
